This book, along with Volumes 1 & 2, and the IEE Lean Six Sigma Project Execution Guide were the textbooks used in my Master Black Belt training class. Unlike other textbooks, which go on the shelf after the course never to be opened again, this book has remained a go-to resource for me. It is detailed, understandable and, when coupled with the Project Execution guide, is an invaluable tool I use regularly in the improvement projects I run as well as the training and mentoring I deliver to our staff. Mr. Breyfogle has done an amazing job of capturing the the entire Lean Six Sigma body of knowledge and presents it with examples relevant to every business sector, public or private.I strongly recommend this book, and the others in the series, to anyone who is committed to operational efficiency and improvement.

I learned of this text when I worked with the author. Now that I have moved on and work as a corporate MBB and teach Six Sigma at a local state university. I use it as my personal reference and my course text. This book includes everything needed to teach GB and BB.Once you understand the author’s unique names he uses for baselining processes you will find in it everything a belt will need.To be clear, this is not a pure lean text or a pure six sigma text. The book covers a quite effective blend of Lean and Six Sigma that can be used to solve nearly any business problem. The book is also full of more rigor than most six sigma trade books. This is not a marketing book. It is a solid reference book for a LSS practitioner.

The author has great experience and knowledge but is unable to succinctly explain basic concepts. The underlying information is important but not particularly complex. Yet, it is difficult to read this text and have a functional knowledge of process improvement. I would not expect that any manager or executive would have the time to read through 1000+ pages of the acronyms and confusing diagrams.

Forrest packs a wealth of information into this edition. It can serve as guide to both project selection and execution. It helps you identify and use the tools that are most appropriate for your specific problem. I would highly recommend for anyone learning or leading continuous improvement efforts in their organizations. Should also be a required textbook! Forrest is the future of Quality. What Deming did for the movement Forrest is taking it to the next level.

Integrated Enterprise Excellence Volume III (IEEV3)is one volume of a three volume series - but as a standalone text, it is essentially a highly evolved sequel to the award-winning Implementing Six Sigma (ISS) books which were first published nearly a decade ago, in 1999. Although the second edition of ISS (2003) introduced a substantial amount of new reference material to the original book, it was still largely a handbook for implementation of conventional Lean/Six Sigma systems at the operational level. IEEV3 introduces new topics, new text, and new graphics to provide a significant step beyond both earlier ISS books in scope, structure and content.Although both earlier books generally address the wise application of improvement systems and analytical tools to resolving business problems, the scope of IEEV3 has been broadened to acknowledge and more clearly define two distinct yet interdependent levels of study and improvement: the operational level and the enterprise level.IEEV3 takes the position that to focus on specific operational process improvements without consideration of effects throughout the enterprise can result in suboptimization of results if not counterproductive unintended consequences.
